If you are interested in the FACTS of Islam and not the myths and wishful thinking, then this is the book for you. The statements, stories and observations are backed up with specific citations that can and should be confirmed for your own conviction of its veracity. This is the third book I have read on the subject and I am impress with the depth, breath and accuracy of the information presented in this work. The picture painted is not pretty, but must be faced if western civilization is to survive.
This was an excellent synopsis of Islam and also the general misconceptions about the Middle Ages.
If you want to know more and are looking for a quick and easy read this book will deliver.
While I have always appreciated the readers’ reviews in selecting which books to read, I have rarely written my thoughts on a book until I read this one. First, I found it very difficult to read this book from the first page but in my pursuit of reading resources to gain different perspectives I managed to finish it. I have never read a book with such ignorant, cherry picked, scholarly biased so-called investigation that seems to only aim distorting the truth with the goal of provoking hatred thoughts by providing such negative image of Islam and its followers. I consider myself as a moderate Muslim with secular perspective not only on the principles of Islam but also other religions. I have lived in US for 10yrs and since day one I have always tried to learn and understand more and more about the other religions as well as cultures to not only broaden my perspective but more importantly appreciate people as who they are and where they come from. While I certainly understand why Islam in today’s world is perceived as a violent religion due to a minority of fanatics especially after Sep 11, this cannot and never should be attributed to 1 billion+ Muslims worldwide. While the terrorism and violence action of Islamic fundamentalists can never be justified within the context of religion and culture, the conservative fundamentalism has existed from the times of human origin in every religion and cultures including Christianity Crusades being a particular example of such, in contrast to what the author argues. This author, however, ignores all the other research published by notable and well-positioned authors and historians, and provides questionable resources to his research just to encourage that violence against Islam and Muslims should be the path to move forward. Treating Islam or any other religion with intolerance and ignorance rather than addressing the conflicts objectively has not accomplished any harmonization between the civilizations throughout the history and certainly will not today while we are experiencing such conflicts regardless of the religious background. Overall, it’s very depressing to see that some of the readers have found this book to be an objective resource for depiction of Islam and Muslims.
Guess what! Islam is not a religion of peace. Islam condones murder, lying, and stealing, in order to advance its own cause. Islam’s codes of conduct only apply when acting towards other Muslims. Islam teaches that women are inferior to men and have the status of slaves. Islam condones slavery. All of this is in the Quran. Verses of the Quran do not have a context. The verses of the Quran mean exactly what they say, in isolation, a point also made in Spencer’s other book, “The Complete Infidel’s Guide to the Koran”. According to the Quran, murder is less evil than persecution. By persecution is meant any hindrance to the spread of Islam, such as telling the truth about Islam. Muhammad was the first Islamic terrorist. His band frequently raided pagan, Jewish, and Christians tribes. Islam’s cardinal rule of diplomacy has always been: treaties are made to be broken. Policy makers need to always keep this in mind when dealing with Islamic countries.
The moral philosophy of Islam is the same as that of communism: the end justifies the means. Think of the implications this has for contemporary issues. Before I listened to this audiobook, I was under the assumption that Islam shares the conservative values of other monotheistic religions. It does not. For instance, I thought that Islam condemned abortion and homosexuality. But what would jihadists really think of cooperating with the Left in promoting partial birth abortion and gay marriage? Well, since it destroys Western society, it also advances the Islamic cause and therefore is justified. So Muslim extremists can with good conscience promote the denigration of values which they would not allow to happen in their own societies.
Reconsider even the question that Obama is a Muslim. I used think that’s rubbish, because Obama’s social values clearly are not Islamic ones. Moreover, Obama was born a Muslim and therefore he is now an apostate deserving of death. This last statement is quite true. But if Obama by promoting the destruction of values, by promoting gay marriage and infanticide, succeeds in destroying American society, and if Obama also by pretending to be a Christian pulls off an act of deception which blinds us to the truth and thereby aids jihad, his actions are from the point of view of Islamic jihad entirely justified. Obama is certainly also helping jihad by appeasement. So Obama could after all be a Muslim, and people’s prejudices could be right after all. And while this does not logically follow from all the evidence, it is not at all far-fetched.
And consider the level of sexual immorality also taught in the Quran and the Hadith. It’s ok for Muslim men to fantasize about a sexual paradise with as many virgins and young boys to fornicate upon and sodomize as they please. Islam is a carnal and sensual religion just as much as it is murderous.
Finally, consider what Islam has in store for the civil society. They want America and all other free republics under Islamic law and the Constitution of the United States scrapped and replaced with Sharia. They want Americans, Europeans and people of all nations who refuse Islam to be forced to pay a cruel tax wherein the act of payment itself involves floggings and humiliations. It is their supreme strategy for growing converts, and it works. In the short term, their subjects choose to pay the taxes and endure the misery, but in the long run it is inevitable they will convert. To promulgate the treasonous ideology of Islam in the civil society is treason; it was not historically considered protected by freedom of speech, and it certainly does not deserve the sanctuary of freedom of religion.
It is time that we stop making excuses for Islam. Embassies need to rethink their alliances. Islam killed, kills, and continues to kill. When Muslims claim they are for peace, they are just buying time, like they always have. It is not enough to attribute Islamic atrocities to Islamic extremists; we must acknowledge that Islam itself is extreme. A Muslim who denies his own duty to wage holy war in the way of Allah must, if he is not a liar, be a liberal Muslim who believes the Quran is a myth, in very much the same way as a Christian who denies resurrection of Jesus must be a liberal Christian who believe the Bible is a myth. In other words, terror is in the mainstream of Islam. It is time that free people wake up!
